Data Model for our Generic BOM Design Pattern
An Access Database is available.
This is an example of our Bill of Materials Design Pattern.

My Approach
This simple page will help you understand the thinking behind the construction of a simple Data Model.
My purpose is to help you design a simple Datababase for a Bill of Materials.
I start by identifying the Requirements.
Then design the Conceptual Data Model,
which is very useful for discussion with business users.
Then I design the Logical Data Model
Finally I create the Physical Model which I use to create the Database.
My purpose is to design a simple Data Model.
Step 1) First I review my Generic Business Data Model which is an excellent starting-point,
and I have found very useful for discussion with business users.
Then I design the Logical Data Model
Finally I create the Physical Model which I use to create the Database.
