Back to the Data Model.
The Area being Modelled is :-
Customers and Timesheets
Dear Barry
I found your address from the below question and your 'database answers' were most
comprehensive indicating you were could help with the below timesheet/invoice database
especially regarding lump sum payments.
We are an architecture firm in Sydney (edifice.com.au) and need a timesheet database that
gives us knowledge about our hourly rate for our services given that we use lump sums to invoice.
We need a simple database:
1. INPUT - timesheets (currently fortnightly) - input form where we add: employee, job name/number, date, service provided
- Ideally this would be in a cloud format where employees could input, but don't see output (fees etc.)
but this could also be centralised on a single computer and perhaps input by myself (and therefore confidentiality and
cloud don't matter).
2. OUTPUT - We would like a reports on:
1. Job total hours (column M) - to measure profitability of service type
2. Profitability of jobs eg new houses versus multi-unit
3. Where we are getting referrals from
4. Client type eg professionals and mainly lawyers
I am attaching a spreadsheet with example data for one job
(we had about 30 jobs last year).
We don't need further columns eg client address etc as these are
kept in our MYOB data. As mentioned we want to keep it simple.
Questions
- Should this be Access or Excel?
- Do you have anything databases that could help us?
