An Access Database is available on demand.
The Specifications for the Data Model were derived from the Figure on page 203 of
'The Nimble Elephant' by John Giles.
My ERD is based on my
Canonical Data Model, which I found was very similar to John's 'Integration Pattern'.
We might also design a Data Mart, which is very useful for providng data for Reports and Business Intelligence.
We would be glad to have
your comments.
If you are new to Data Models, this page of my new Tutorial will help you understand the Data Model.
This is my ERD that corresponds to what the author calls "Integration Pattern / shower screen scenario" on
page 203 on his excellent Nimble Elephant book.
I created it out of curiosity to see how long it would take and what the end-result would look like.
The answer was about an hour and the result looks OK - it conforms to my ideas of pleasing aesthetics
and it is easy to read the story it is telling (at least it is if you are experienced in reading Data Models.
If not, take a look at myTutorial on reading a Database Schema.
